The Lok Sabha Discussion on Waqf Bill Extended 10 Hours Long

New Delhi: On Wednesday, dictatorial exchanges among lawmakers in Lok Sabha afflicted the marathon debate between Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, stretching and limping more than 10 hours in the Lok Sabha, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah defense relating to it. He elaborated on property management and donations of properties: lands of temples, other religious institutions, and even the government will not be entitled to the purposes of Waqf donation, "You cannot donate someone else's property. You donate something which is yours," he corroborated in his speech.

The heated exchanges began in the afternoon when lawmakers took to debating the provisions of the bill. Shah tried to respond to varied concerns by the opposition, and especially those which talked about the ramifications of the bill on minority communities; then he made clear that illegal donations could not be allowed by Muslims adhering to their religious practices for at least five years much to the deafening cries of discrimination.

And while such members of the opposition, especially Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, uniformly horrified the government for allegedly adopting a divisive approach towards it, calling it what it so threateningly rendered, Shah and other BJP leaders defended the bill by pointing out how necessary it was to check the abuse of Waqf properties and ensure clarity in managing religious land.

Nevertheless, the marathon debate ran late into the night, and the argument was far from ended, with the claims being made by the government against the opposition regarding Waqf bills 'marginalizing' potential communities. Its fate hangs by further talking, therefore.
